Why do they wear blue arm bands and on their helmets? It defeats the camouflage,

One of the things that surprised me most about [infantry drills was dropping to prone when taking fire](https://youtu.be/T6QiX6IZPwQ?t=468&si=mwsRph7VwTYXiFTJ) to reduce size of target (you) and stabilize your weapon to return fire if needed.
It makes sense, and these guys knew the drill the instant shots were incoming, but to someone with absolute 0 combat experience I would just imagine the panic and sudden flight instinct kicking in.

Pinned by a bushwhacker with a heavy machine gun, rough.
Thermals would make all the difference.

What is one meant to do next in this sort of situation? If you are pinned down behind a small mound of earth that doesnt extend very far in either direction perpendicular to the line of fire, surely every second you spend there is another second the enemy could be better focusing their aim at where they expect your head to pop up. Do you just lay there until help arrives? Do soldiers still carry mirror sticks so they can peek around or over cover with out being exposed? or do they just peek repeatedly hoping not to get shot and figure out where the shots are coming from and try to return fire with the disadvantage of the enemy having a bead on your location?
I’d think the move would be to call in help, get a FPV drone or something similar to come and ruin the attackers day so they can move again.

jfc thats incredibly close. There is pretty much no delay between the bullet passing them and the report – easily has to be within under 250 yards.

Definitely very close to the enemy, seems to be a Russian MRE on the ground where the Ukrainian is.

You can see something hitting the house about half way through. Seems like the MG fire is lighting the house up behind where they were.
