The country provided the Patriot system in the most advanced PAC-3+ configuration, capable of effectively intercepting ballistic missiles.

This happened within a month after the country's president Klaus Iohannis signed a decree on the free transfer of the system to Ukraine on September 5 .

In 2017, Romania concluded an agreement with the United States on the purchase of Patriot PAC-3+ air defense systems under the Foreign Military Sales program.

This version of the systems is equipped with a more powerful second-generation AN/MPQ-65 radar, which has a longer detection range, better capabilities in identifying targets and tracking ballistic missiles.

According to the US Department of Defense acquisition report, the contract included seven batteries complete with one AN/MPQ-65 radar, one AN/MSQ-132 command post and four M903 launchers. This allows you to estimate the likely composition of the transferred battery.

Unlike the old elements, the new M903 launchers can carry a larger ammunition load of modern PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE anti-aircraft missiles due to the reduction of their dimensions and weight.

The latter were created specifically to intercept ballistic missiles. The original PAC-3 has a range of up to 80 km on air targets and 40 km on ballistics. The later MSE from Lockheed Martin received an increased radius to 120 km for air targets and 60 km for ballistics.

Despite this, the launcher, as well as the radar, can be used simultaneously with the PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles. Such a combination allows the complex to effectively fight both air and ballistic targets at the same time.

We will remind that last week the United States agreed to transfer an additional Patriot air defense battery and missiles to Ukraine.

  1. One of the most important parts of Ukraine’s air defense at the moment is the kamikaze drones that eliminate Russian observation drones that guide dangerous Russian missiles. If you want to help with this part of the air defense, donate to the [Come Back Alive Foundation](https://www.facebook.com/share/ewL1Z8Ub1wiwc8Nx/?mibextid=qi2Omg) that has been constantly helping to provide Ukrainian battalions with the ideal drones for this mission

Nice of them to move so fast. They seem men of their word. And they don’t mince words much. 1 month to deliver a patriot system must be a record.
At least Ukraine can defend itself better now.

This missile system was Romanias (my country) pride and joy. We don’t really have much. We don’t have suitable tanks or apc-s, not even artillery. 🙂 Just sayin’. We still have 3 of these batteries and 3 more already ordered.
