  1. Summary:

Saudi Arabia is frustrated with oil-producing countries like Russia, which have failed to cut production as agreed to raise oil prices. In response, Saudi Arabia is considering increasing its own oil exports, potentially lowering global prices. This move could severely impact Russia, which relies heavily on oil revenues to fund its war in Ukraine.

If oil prices drop by $20 per barrel, Russia could lose $20 billion in revenue, equivalent to 1% of its GDP. The Kremlin faces tough choices: reduce spending or deal with inflation and high interest rates. Despite Western sanctions and price caps, Russia has managed to profit through alternative markets and middlemen countries like China and India. Even if Saudi Arabia follows through with its plan, Russia is expected to continue funding its war for now, though its economy shows signs of strain.

  2. War in the middle east and we’re speculating a *drop* in oil prices? I don’t like the odds on that put tbh.

That is the way to stop russia. Did also work in the 80s with the soviet union.

Look Saudi, let’s do a deal, drop the price of oil to half.

Russia will have to pull out of Ukraine, Europe will buy your oil, Russia gets new leadership, America will get Israel to stop bombing the Palestinians and we all pile in on Iran..

  5. So Saudi is partly responsible for not stopping war quickly by bringing prices down. All the lives they could have saved.

Unfortunately, as an American, most of our population are too uneducated to understand the geoeconimics of oil prices. They still praise or blame a president for gas prices. So if un-named becomes president, there will be all sorts of FB posts saying that it was because the president did this unilaterally and saved the country of higher gas prices, all the while using their EBT cards and voting for folks that want to take their safety nets away. It’s frustrating listening to these sheep drone on and on about things their know absolutely nothing about. And all it would take is for the media (all) to explain it on their news programs. But why educate the masses? Our politicians (and media), like an uneducated voting mass.

  7. Saudi Arabia can do the opposite and cease oil production until Israel stops attacking their neighbors (like they did last time).

This is exactly what happened in 1986. That was a major contributor to the fall of the Soviet Union.

  9. Fucking lol, it’s literally cartel style price fixing in broad daylight, and we’re all powerless to stop it. The sooner we can cut our reliance on oil, the better for us.
