  1. The title does not reflect the content of the article at all. There is no number about sovereignty at all. Sure sepatist party are gaining momentum, but it is not necessary about sovereignty… People are turning to the bloc because they dislike both Liberal and Conservative.

On the provincial level, it is similar. People want a government that protect french langage and Quebec culture, but they dislike others CAQ decision.

  2. IMO the failures of the current federal government aren’t directly causing a separatism resurgence so much as they’re causing an increase in radical viewpoints across the country. When moderate politics fail people start looking towards more radical solutions, Quebec just has a pre-existing movement for historical reasons.

  4. The sovereigntists may be finding momentum but as the article says sovereignty is not popular.

The latest Leger poll back in August had the ‘No’ at 56%.

At this point the PQ will have to manufacture the conditions for sovereignty if it doesn’t exist by the time they get into office.

  5. The title/subheading of this article is pretty misleading. It suggests that polls are showing a resurgence of sovereignty talk, but the only reference to polling about sovereignty comes near the end, where a sentence says “Based on polling from August, Quebec voters do not have a strong appetite for the new referendum”.

Maybe there is a resurgence of sovereigntism, but it’s missing from this piece.

  6. Last time they separatists were rallying to leave the federal conservatives were poised to win the election too. Anyone want to guess what happened?
