Just a few months before USA’s first female president

She is a Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador puppet, nothing will change today, the next day or in 10 years for Mexico with how embedded the Cartels are in Mexico.

Is she the former mayor who wanted to sue a Norwegian risk management company because of their report about the rail line (Mexico City Metro line 12) collapsing “served the opposition?”

“Puppet” of AMLO is the right wing chant because the opposition can’t handle their loosened grip of power of MX. Go fuck yourselves PRI, PRD, and PAN.

Finally Mexico will have a female President who will be as corrupt as any male president that preceded her.

Serious question – how would the government actually go about reigning in the cartels? Is it just possible at this point? I don’t know all the dynamics involved, but as an outsider it sure seems the cartels run the country, not the elected officials.

I wish her the best of luck, hopefully the cartels don’t “make an example” of her… no clue how to even solve the problem Mexico has.

My wife and I were at a high-end Mexican restaurant the day before the election and the restaurant owner filled us in on the political events of Mexico. She said the president before Claudia was excellent after so many corrupt leaders and she was hoping Claudia would win so even more progress could be made. I’ve always said, the best way to solve illegal immigration is not to block people at the U.S. border it is for Mexico to make it so their people don’t want to leave.

Claudia Sheinbaum is a phenomenal choice for president.
While her bitter opponents falsely accuse her of dealing with cartels, they have zero evidence of it. In fact, Felipe Calderon, a previous president from a different party is the one whose right-hand man was found to be associated with cartels and is now serving life in prison.
Her political opponents hate the fact that Sheinbaum belongs to a political party that toppled the long running alliance between the two most corrupt parties of Mexico, commonly called the Prian. But the hate only stems from the fact that this new political party has proven to be actually doing good things for the country in terms of economy, infrastructure, social programs, education, healthcare, and sports.
Under this new political party, Mexico is poised to take over much of the business previously handled by the Panama Canal, along with many other infrastructure projects that were completed, a few new airports, train systems nationalized, oil refinery and integration of the national guard into the military so that they are not turned into a corrupt force as it had happened under the previous administrations where you had a force of 8,000 cops with no other role than to protect the president.
Sheinbaum and her predecessor, President Obrador, have been adept politicians and business oriented technocrats who never forgot that the government’s aim is to serve the people. And they have done that very well, for example, they restored pensions so that retirees now get 100% of their salary and not the measly 30% that they were forced to accept back when the PRI was in power. They’ve also created a national program, now made Constitutional, so that Mexican youth is supported financially during their school years. You can’t focus on school when you have an empty stomach. Furthermore, they have also created a financial support plan for elder people, 64 and older so that they receive some financial assistance. First time this has ever happened in a Latin American country. Completely unprecedented in the world. So, things are looking up for the country. Except for the greedy few who used to have their control of resources through connections with another handful of powerful politicians back in the day. But hey, they are rich so they can survive very well.

Question, has the cartel ever executed a pres? What happens if they kill her? Can’t a president brazenly defy them and if anything happens the military would take action? I don’t get how they can control the president. I’m ignorant on these things tho…I suppose they would cover it up somehow or maybe make it seem like it wasn’t them…but their mo is always to send a message so I doubt they would be anonymous about an assassination
