>Suddenly, Donald Trump cares about witness safety and privacy in his court cases, but only when it comes to his January 6 case.
>On Tuesday, Trump’s legal team filed a motion demanding Judge Tanya Chutkan to redact even more of Jack Smith’s dossier against him in the federal election interference case. As Smith has compiled and submitted new evidence of the former president’s work to overthrow the 2020 election, Trump’s lawyers have asked the special counsel for redactions of “identity-related information” and “sensitive witness statements” before it is released to the public.

It doesn’t matter who the accused is or the nature of the evidence, nothing should be made public until the conclusion of the trial. Releasing one side’s discovery only serves to bias the public and the court.
In the US, defendants are assumed to be innocent until proven guilty. This whole trend of prosecutors releasing evidence prior to a verdict is grossly unethical.

Either release the unredacted version or not at all.

If there is strong evidence, as we know there is, some if not all of it should be released. He didn’t give any consideration when he sent the mob on the Capitol, so why should he get any for his election bid.

Can’t have it both ways there, Walking Eagle. So, seeing as how you set the rules of the game already the Florida case, you can’t change them now, so to paraphrase a well-known phrase, “no redaction for you!”

The problem is that whatever is in the documents won’t be of interest to his base. They just don’t care.
