I can’t think of anything worse for gamers, than Ubisoft being owned by people who don’t give a shit about games.

Blaming your bad practices is not the fault of a single game. It is your whole approach to how the games are made.

heavily discounted valuation.
And people will celebrate Ubisoft’s downfall like them getting chopped up and sold off so Tencent can make some AC mobile games is some kind of moral victory for gamers everywhere.

It’s more than just outlaws. They’ve been fucking up a lot lately and in a day and age where one flop is enough to shutter your dev studio it was only a matter of time. Shadows has to hit big for them or they’re in trouble.

Good riddance.
Hopefully EA investors follow suit here lol

I didn’t care for Ubisoft that much anymore but I do wonder what Far Cry 7 would’ve been like.

It’s a shame, because many of my favorite games happen to be Ubisoft games. AC Odyssey, AC Origins, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Far Cry 5. Granted, a few of those games were all made by the same studio, Ubisoft Quebec, so maybe I’m just a fan of Ubisoft Quebec specifically lol.
It’s a shame that people meme on hating AC Odyssey so much because the game is absolutely wonderful, and made even better with the PS5 performance patch for full 4k/60fps HDR. It’s breathtaking.
It’d be better for gaming if Ubisoft gets fixed, not goes away completely. Not sure what the solution is but maximizing shareholder value as the main priority usually doesn’t lead to better products.

Ubisoft games have so much potential in terms of scale, graphics, completeness and world building, but they have maybe the most tedious game loops in the business. Painfully repetitive, even across titles. Their environments deserve better.

Take the company private again and make better games.

Maybe this will scare other developers from releasing unfinished games.

I literally could not care less about Star Wars. It’s JUST a cash grab brand at this point. George Lucas isn’t in the building.

They’ve been on the wringer several times now, but they weren’t close to anything in 2024. The abysmal flop of Skull and Bones, the half baked Star Wars Outlaws and all the controversy of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, among other things, and the year’s not even over yet. Can’t say I don’t blame them for screwing themselves over by being so stagnant.
Even the new PoP game which got great reviews (I haven’t played it so idk) got poor sales because of those aforementioned Ls and being so unconventional (newer protagonist, and a sidescroller).

Ubisoft has been going downhill for a decade.

How many thousands of people didn’t buy outlaws and just paid for a month of Ubisoft connect to play it? Raises hand. It’s not a bad game, but I assume they’re talking sales vs player count when they keep referring to outlaws lackluster performance?
Mitrovarr on
Ubisoft has been devaluing their reputation via excessive monetization and general lack of polish for a while now. Eventually the market noticed, and now being a Ubisoft game is a mark of poor quality and/or value, so their games don’t sell.
If Star Wars Outlaws had come out of some no-name studio, it would have done better (doubly so because it wouldn’t have been on their hated launcher).

Ubisoft are the masters of squandered potential. So many games with a good or even great foundation that they just don’t put the effort into to make something great.

The funny thing is that they seem to think Outlaws was the downfall, not the fact that the company has ignored the people that buy their games for a good decade or so. Outlaws is the final nail at best.

Yeah who knew appeasing shareholders above quality would paint your company into a corner that shareholders won’t save you from. ELT are fucking idiots sometimes.

I don’t see how you can take a serious pass at an open world Star Wars game and not make money. Like the money’s there in the IP; they just had to make a half-dcent game out of it.
