Can I just say, these paper bags have been the cause of many embarrassing situations at the checkout, how hard is it to make paper bags that have some structural integrity and can hold more than a few bottles before collapsing in on itself

They’re so incredibly shit it’s a great incentive to make you bring your own from home to avoid getting stuck using them.

I work at Coles and have never even noticed the weight before.
8kg seems really wrong.
I’m surprised they even advocate for 6kg…
The bags are shit…

What the hell are people putting in them that makes them break? I have never had a bag break yet.

They were lying about 8kg too!
Maybe the bag can but the handles can’t handle more than 2.5 donuts..
Also “any” moisture makes them as useful as a wet noodle

I used to be a checkout chick at woolies when I was teen.
I got in trouble if I put more than 4kg into a bag (2x 2L milk).
Also got in trouble for putting dishwashing liquid with vegetables, and a myriad of other things which are no longer rules anywhere.
Not sure why anyone would pack a bag to 8kg because most shoppers would struggle.

Those flapping paper bags.
Try ordering watermelon online, the clingwrap is usually dripping with watermelon juice, and the paperbag just decomposes on the SPOT !, so what do the Online pickers do, put the wet clingwrap watermelon in the paper bags.
reducing product breakage ?, they cannot hold even a toothbrush without splitting at the handles.

Coles lying?
Always have been.

The bags are shitty but the handles are worse, they tear off if you look at them wrong.

Step 1. Lobby against the government to ban plastic bags to “save the environment” (without reducing plastic usage in other areas).
Step 2. Sell paper bags as an alternative (even though bags used to be free).
Step 3. Reduce the size of paper bags but say they’re the same size so people need to buy more.
Step 4: ????????????

The ones in store are still full size. I don’t understand the logic at all

You’re complaining that the new recycled bags are rated for MORE weight..?
