At this point I’m just gonna believe him and assume the killer did shoeies with the boiz back at base afterwards.

Virtually impossible to either prove or disprove a claim like this, especially now there are vested interests on both sides to make stuff up. Now that compensation has started to flow to Afghanistan there may be an incentive to tell a fib, and obviously special forces soldiers don’t want to be found guilty of war crimes, so they will lie as well.
