  1. Just get the OPW to buy it, they should be able to sign off on the budget without too many questions.

  2. Legitimate-Nature519 on

True. I remember picking up a guitar, finding the blues, and wondering how I hadn’t managed to have heard of him until then. True legendary guitar player.

  3. Guitars that have good tone go for good money. And with a link to a famous guitarist they can reach good money.

But to get the amount being asked they have to be mega stars guitars from a particular period album or song.

No matter how much I respect Rory , he’s not that famous outside of guitar circles.

  4. More it’s talked about the more the price will go up I think
    Definitely belongs in Ireland though

    “It belongs in a museum”

  5. Disagree completely, and I’m a huge Rory fan. Treating guitars or cars as museum pieces completely misses the point. Its not a sculpture, its ment to be played. Ideally great musical instruments would pass from great musician to great musician, just as most Stradivarius violins are in the hands of great players, not museum pieces

  6. It can belong in Éire while still not being in a museum. Give it to a musician who appreciates and admired his work, a musical family member, or to an institution that teaches music.
