  1. The crazy and dangerous ideas from Trump keep on coming. That anyone plans to vote for this guy is becoming more and more surprising.

  2. I’m waiting for him to suggest police nationwide wear the same uniform, maybe something in brown.

  3. So when Pokémon Go first came out. Some jerk on twitter said he was annoyed at all the adults playing pokemon in public. And he was going roll play the purge with paintball guns. Well the police should up and charged the guy with making public threats. My point is people have faced criminal charges for even jokingly say they would purge. Unfortunately yet another pass trump will receive because he is white and perceived as wealthy

Who keeps letting him watch horror movies? He’s a confused old man! He can’t tell what’s reality at the best of times!

  5. The scary part: I believe that he will absolutely do this. Now just watch the sale of arms go up through the roof.

  6. > Trump declared that Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) should be put in charge for “one really violent day.”
    >
    > “One rough hour. And I mean real rough, the world will get it out and it will end immediately. End immediately. You know, it will end immediately,” he added without sharing any logistics.

The comments being referenced in the headline. Pretty disgusting stuff, but far from the first time he’s incited, encouraged, or otherwise condoned violence, so part of me wonders whether this’ll get sanewashed by local news tomorrow or brushed under the rug, like a lot of his worst remarks

  7. > “He’s just describing the premise of The Purge,” added left-wing PAC The Lincoln Project, sharing a clip of Trump’s remarks.

Poor resaerch, Independent. The Lincoln Project is a Conservative group of Republicans, not a “left-wing PAC.”

How did this stupidity make it to publication?

    The Pro-Life, Evangelical Party:

“Some folks need killing” -Mark Robinson Endorsed By donald with the little d Trump

“The Looting Starts, The Shooting Starts” -dJT himself

  9. See, that’s the difference. Normal people see the purge as a horror movie, these disaffected bureaucrats see it as aspirational

Let me see if I follow…

    Republicans want/need the black vote.

Republicans think black folks are responsible for most crime.

Republicans propose a hour where “criminals” can be hunted down extrajudicially with impunity. Without being convicted of a crime

Ipso facto, Republicans are proposing an hour to hunt down black folks with no oversight.

But also, “black people, you love me because, like you, I’m a criminal, please vote for me.”

But also, doesn’t this technically mean that if Trump owns, there will be an hour where any law enforcement will be free to extrajudicially assasinate a sitting president with no legal recourse?

If I’m Trump, and I win the election and put this into effect, I’d really hope I never did anything to piss off any secret service agents assigned to my detail.

The only problem with The Purge is that turnabout is fair play. The MAGA cultists are so convinced that liberals will lay down and die that they think that liberals won’t fight back when their lives are threatened.

Be careful what you wish for.

  12. Fuck ‘The Purge’.

    He’s Literally proposing Kristallnacht.

And his cult is taking it to heart. The MAGAs are all in for this insanity.

  13. Except citizens were given a free pass to commit crime in The Purge. In this case it’s the cops

  14. WhoEvenIsPoggers on

Worse. He saying that only the police would be given “One rough hour”. As if the police need anymore leeway in the judicial system

I just had an interaction with a cop yesterday. I am a law-abiding citizen and was minding my own business so I was surprised and confused when he started hassling me and it made him mad that I was confused and didn’t realize at first that he was talking to me. It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity, he thought I was someone he’d seen a few minutes before who must have passed me on the street. It was all sorted out but imagine if the policy was to shoot first and ask questions later.

  16. Solution to guns = more guns

Solution to more murder = more police sanctioned murder.

How in the hell is this race even close. He should get less than 5% of the vote, but because one part of the country has lost their damn mind to join the Cult 45 he has a legitimate chance.

  17. He isn’t even suggesting the Purge where all crime is legal. He’s proposing letting the cops murder “criminals” in order to stop crime.

  18. He might have called it a Purge because of  the movie, but he’s really advocating for a Krystalnacht 2.0.

  19. Trump is a criminal. He is the criminal element. So what I’m hearing is that Trump has a (sexual?) fantasy of being roughed up by a cop.

It’s like when republican politicians in red states push to flood communities with guns so that people “have the means to overthrow a tyrannical government,” and then they proceed to act as a tyrannical government. Or how, years ago, I read about a trans woman dominatrix in D.C. who had clients that were prominent politicians. She said that while she wasn’t going to name names and that she had clients from both sides of the aisle, they definitely skewed more heavily Republican.

Anyone watched “Back to the future 2”? Basically Trump is Biff in the movie. Just imagine he can go travel to/back to the future and then make sure he wins this election. He will become Biff in the movie.

Those are some funny parallels. You know what else is an interesting parallel? In 1993 Octavia E. Butler published a book called Parable of the Sower and in 1998 the sequel Parable of the Talents.

It tells the story, beginning in 2024, of a group of people escaping the rise to power of an American Christian fascist dictator whose slogan is “Make America Great Again”.

Don’t believe me? Look it up. The New Yorker had an article about it some years ago.

Incidentally, Octavia E. Butler is the only science fiction author ever to win the $100,000 MacArthur Genius Grant, for her book Kindred. The Patternist series, also known as Seed to Harvest is my favorite of her works.
