Korea’s childbirths have been on an upward trend since April and the number of marriages has been increasing since the summer of 2022. The reported increase in childbirths reported in July has been the largest in 12 years. I am cautiously optimistic about this trend continuing, as Korea’s birthing cohort is getting larger due to a large amount of babies born in the 1990s. We may finally be seeing the light at the end of the demographic tunnel. Immigration is also increasing in tandem.
