The Arbëni council (1703) held near Lezhë-Albania was organized by Pope Clement Xl Albani who himself was Albanian, was held in order to strengthen the position of the Catholic Church in Ottoman captured Albania and to stop the massive conversions to Islam that was happening in this period.
The records of the meeting were sent to Rome for papal inspection and published in Albanian and Latin in 1706.
