Trump says he will not run for president in 2028 if he loses to Harris US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has said he will not run in 2028 if he loses to his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, in November.

In an interview broadcast on Sunday, Trump was asked if he would run again in four years if he was not successful this time.

He replied: “No, I don’t. I think that will be it, and I don’t see that. Hopefully we’re going to be successful.”

The question was asked at the end of the interview. The former president did not say why this will be his final run for the White House.

A US president is limited to serve two four-year terms. But candidates are allowed to run for an unlimited number of times regardless of their age.

The Associated Press reports that Trump’s comment was notable “because he rarely admits the possibility he could legitimately lose an election.”
