  1. I’m almost surprised there isn’t at least one European country in which the mean age isn’t like 35.

I was a first time mum in Ireland at 38. Old toddler moms unite!! ✊🍼👵

That is too old for average first time. Women should be having kids after they turn 16 and have three kids by time they are 30. Only way to raise our population or keep it at same level. I would be in charge of inseminating the ladies as a man.

  3. My mum got me with 25. I am now 29 and my GF 27 and we dont expect to have kids for the next 3-5 years.

  4. You know what would fix the birth problem of western civilization? Absolute care for mothers, no matter if they are single or not.

All mothers should get 100% economic independence regardless of their circumstances, provided they do not choose to work.

  5. if we want more children in our western society, then we should not make becoming children a financial disaster. the number one risk of poverty is being a single parent, 40% divorce rate. do the math.

Can Europe even recover from this? Looking at South Korea and Japan I’m starting to think we can’t fix this issue in Europe either.

“Muh birth rate” Bro I think humanity will be just fine with more people becoming moms in their late 20s- early 30s.

Nowadays, most people focus on their career rather than thinking about their family. Therefore, the standard of living has become much higher. I believe that first world countries are less dependent on children than third world countries. Which subsequently affects the economy (not for the better for the first countries), but this is only a stage in the development of this society

  9. Surprised that Ireland, Italy, Spain are so high as Catholic countries where large families are quite common

  10. The map should have started at the age of 13. When i was younger it was the new trend to get kids early

The information from Moldova is highly biased because of high emigration of highly educated people which are excluded from the stats.

Me and my friends who are from Moldova went study abroad, and most of us had their first child after 30. So pretty much the average as in otherwise EU countries.

So take these stats with a grain of salt.. I’m sure there are plenty of people in Western Europe who had their child earlier but are not highly educated.

  12. It’s pretty fascinating to me people in their twenties think they’re stable, secure, and mature enough to have a child. At 26 I still feel like a kid – I’m building my career, saving for a house, traveling and partying, maybe get a PhD… no way in hell I’m thinking about having (more likely adopting) a kid in the next five, eight years.
