The South Korean military says North Korea has floated what is believed to be trash balloons towards the nation.
In a text message sent to local reporters on Sunday, the Joint Chiefs of Staff stated it is possible that the presumed trash balloons from North Korea could move toward the Gyeonggi Province and Seoul metropolitan area considering the current direction of the wind.
The latest launch is the 22nd in a campaign that started May 28 in response to anti-Pyongyang leaflets sent via balloon by defectors’ groups in South Korea.
This launch comes four days after the previous campaign.
According to military authorities’ analysis, no hazardous materials have been found so far.
