Ukraine says attack destroyed key ammunition depot in southern Russia The Ukrainian military says it has destroyed an ammunition depot in southern Russia that served as a key logistics base for Russian forces.

Ukraine’s General Staff said on Saturday that the depot in the Krasnodar region was one of Russia’s three-largest ammunition storage bases.

The Associated Press distributed footage purportedly showing the blast caused by the attack. A huge column of fire and smoke can be seen rising into the night sky.

Ukraine says that at the time of the strike, at least 2,000 tons of ammunition had been delivered to the facility, including those provided by North Korea.

The governor of the Krasnodar region reported no casualties and said about 1,200 residents were evacuated from areas near the depot.

The Ukrainian military said it also struck an ammunition depot in the Tver region of northwest Russia. This follows a similar attack on Wednesday.

Ukraine is apparently trying to degrade Russian forces by attacking their logistics system.
