  1. fomo people being fomoed, also apple fanbois in their own habitat.

If you look at the massive queue next to you, you can see lots of people that is not affected by the cost of living crisis we are currently having.

  2. This is the least surprising thing I’ve seen in a long time.

I just look upon people like this with pity.

There is a LOT of self talk there about how cool it will be to be one of the first people in Sydney to have the new iPhone and how jealous everyone else will be…thinking “even if people say they don’t care, I can still see the envy in their eyes.” 👀

  4. Has there actually been anything game changing with phones in the last 8 years? What can an iPhone 16 actually do that an iPhone 8 couldn’t.

  5. Quick reminder for those who are interested in an upgrade to hold off for JBHiFi to do one of their $1000 gift card deals, for porting your number to their (Telstra) network and then put the gift card towards the phone.

  6. I actually think a lot of those people are just talking by, I bet come by at 11am and you’ll walk right in.

And this is why Apple is a $3.479 trillion dollar company. There will always be cashed up people who want the brand. Its no different from mediaeval lords wanting the most flamboyant colorful outfit or artisan designed amour, did they really need it ? Fuck no, it was to tell everyone else how rich they were and how poor everyone else was.

A lot of these are for pick-ups. They’ve pre-ordered and then picking up and yes a lot of the queue is for pick-up as in previous years.

  9. (Queuing up at my local Apple Store for a scheduled pick up while typing this …)

Anyway, I wasn’t planning to upgrade from my 13Pro, but only because we are going to a trip, so we have a time frame for get it before. And obviously would be nice to have a better camera on my phone, so can take better photo.

I was a photographer and used to “see” thing through a 70-200mm f2.8 lens as standard. I am curious on what this iPhone may bring me.

Edit: ended up waiting for over half an hour for my scheduled pick up

  10. I was in Osaka last week, there was a huge line up for the Onitsuka Tiger shop to open…

People will line up for anything they find popular (shock)

  11. They were queuing to pick it up I think. First come-first served hasn’t been a thing at Apple for a while.

  12. Why do people fixate so much on Apple queues which are once a year, but big queues for some silly rice yoghurt or baked product is OK?

  13. Walk across the road to Vodafone/Telstra/Optus, they have the new handsets too…..and you can buy them outright if that’s your thing…..and there’s no queue.

  14. It’s fun-my phone’s still good for another year, but I’m definitely looking forward to queuing for the 17!

  15. Can confirm with other comments here … the line was for pre-order pickups and the line moved super fast, less than 5min @ ~2:20pm this afternoon.
