Panda born in western Japan celebrates her eighth birthday A female giant panda born and raised at a theme park in western Japan has been gifted her favorite treats on her eighth birthday.

Yuihin was born on September 18, 2016 at Adventure World in Shirahama Town, Wakayama Prefecture.

Yuihin was presented with a bouquet of rose-shaped carrots and ribbon-shaped ice that befitted the kanji character, Yui, which means tie.

Although Yuihin initially displayed interest in these gifts, she soon began snacking on bamboo that was placed nearby.

Yuihin weighed 197 grams at birth, making her the heaviest panda to be born at Adventure World. She has since grown to 113 kilograms.

An official of the theme park has expressed hopes for visitors to watch over the panda, which has been thriving steadily.
