Who in the fuck goes to Japan (with probably just 1 big luggage item available) and buys 5-10 kg of rice, enough to cause a lack of stock?
I understand it is easy to say “hey, lots of foreigners around right? it is probably their fault”, but in this case it makes 0 sense. I could understand blaming it on purchases from people overseas made online due to the weak yen? (better not give them any ideas…)

I heard the excuses for it was due to hoarding from the earthquake warnings.
Paid ¥5,500 at Costco for 10kg, as my local Aeon hasn’t had rice the last few times I’ve checked. Outside of the odd packet of microwave rice.
