Japan checking on N.Korean launch Officials with the Japanese defense ministry say authorities in North Korea have fired off what appears to be a ballistic missile. They are still trying to figure out the details.

Ministry officials said the North Koreans carried out the launch early Thursday. They are checking to see where the projectile fell. They believe it may have come down outside Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone.

Officials in North Korea have carried out ten launches this year. This is the first since the beginning of July.
