I’m a pro-Palestine leftist. Here’s why I’m not abandoning Kamala Harris.

  1. Such stupid ideals. Not supporting Harris because of her Israel stance. I want somebody to find these idiots in 3 years when Jared Kushner is building luxury condos in Palestine and get their opinion on how bad Harris would have been.

The Democrat isn’t doing enough to stop the genocide.

    The republican is pro genocide.

    How could I possibly decide!?!?!

One day soon, I hope the further-left factions in America notice how many gains the far right have gotten by accepting a coalition with right-wing moderates. Like, it’s bad that the far-right have gotten a place at the table, but perhaps, some strategies to consider there.

I’m sorry, you have the first nominee for president since Bill Clinton who is advocating for a two state solution. As in, world recognition of a Palestinian country. Why would there be ANY abandonment unless the only acceptable path is to dismantle Israel as a nation?

I think if we survive this next year without going totally Orwellian, it’s gonna come out that the whole genocide Joe stuff was part of a deliberate campaign by a hostile foreign government or three.

  6. Wtf is up with the media trying to create non reasons for people to not vote Kamala? The fascists must be getting desperate.

  7. bc Trump would be 1000x worse?

in this country, you must vote for the least-bad option.

our electoral system is fucked, that’s just how it is right now. there is nothing to discuss. abstaining just gives evil the opportunity it needs to take over. evil has to be destroyed before we can switch from the least-bad to the greater-good.

  8. It doesn’t take a genius to figure this out. If you’re pro-Palestine, the only rationale for abandoning Kamala Harris is if you value “showing it to the Dems!” more than the actual suffering of the Palestinian people.

  9. If you are a one issue voter and that issue is Gaza, get the fuck out of North America and go protest in Israel.

I mean, Trump is worse in every way than Harris… any “leftist” that doesn’t vote for Harris is a fucking idiot

  11. Smiling_Cannibal on

You can vote for the person who will try and make things better but might fail. Or you can vote for the person who has promised to make it worse.

  12. Im sorry … the alternative is a guy who wants to turn palestine into beach front israelian property with his name on it?

  13. SnuffleWumpkins on

Interesting question. The association between Palestinians and Democrats is one of convenience.

If you were to look at actual political viewpoints, most Muslims have far more in common with Republicans, it’s just that republicans hate Muslims.

The reason they’re making threats is because they honestly don’t give a fuck about anything other than Palestine. They couldn’t give a shit about LGBT rights, abortion, etc.

  14. Trump is literally inciting racial violence in multiple parts of the US and is planning mass deportations of immigrants. Republican anti-abortion policies have killed women and will continue to kill women. The man has loudly said he wants to be a dictator.

I fully support Palestine, but can we please put our own oxygen mask on first?

  15. reddittorbrigade on

Not voting for Harris is tantamount to voting for Trump.

Guess what will happen if Trump becomes the president?

You won’t even be allowed to protest outside.

As a centrist independent, I have this advice for “extreme leftists”: even if you’re doubtful of Harris (like me, but for a different reason) a non-vote for her = support for Trump. So, we all have to think long and hard

  17. There was similar discourse in the UK, especially among “green” voters. Lots were saying they wont vote Labour (our left) because they aren’t pushing for a ceasefire… this is essentially an extra right wing vote. If you are pro-palestine, you’d vote to NOT have a right wing government.

  18. Glad to hear that you can see through the nonsense. If one is not voting for Kamala, they are really just voting for the next Crusade, which will be a whole lot worse than any of the previous ones.

  19. I’d love to hear what the alternative is in a 2 party system. Forget it if you think not voting or voting for Green Party is an alternative.

  20. We went through all this bullshit with Hllary’s run and then Biden’s, as well.

    Protest voters with blinders on.

A “protest vote” to make things worse only MAKES THINGS WORSE. There is no bottom to Republican depravity, you can’t really get back from their taking power.

I was an ardent Sanders supporter during the Hillary and Biden runs, easily voted for the Democratic primary winners in the General Election because that was the best path and they had good characteristics about themselves, as well. Compared to Republicans who had no positive reasons to be supported.

If Project 2025 gets enacted, it’s lights out for US democracy and anyone’s protest vote that contributed to a Trump win was part of that direction. There is FAR too much information available that even the most extreme anti-Israel/Pro-Palestinian US voter can see how Democrats are their best vehicle for future change vs MAGA Republicans. No excuse for making such a poor decision.

  21. Conservatives vote because of single issues. Liberals don’t vote because of single issues. Brilliant.

  22. I’m glad to see this being addressed.

I’m an anti-genocide leftist, myself. I loathe that the Democratic Party is signaling their willingness to continue to arm Israel.

    I’m still voting for Harris.

I’m voting for Harris because she *might* be persuaded to withdraw support from Israel, or do more to safeguard Palestinians. Trump won’t be. Netanyahu will tell him he’s pretty and trump will be throwing rocks at Gaza himself.

I’m voting for Harris because her economic plans will benefit all of us.

I’m voting for Harris because, as a woman, I’m not ready to become a 2nd class citizen

I’m voting for Harris because I’d like to continue to VOTE in free, fair elections

I’m voting for Harris because the Supreme Court and Federal Courts are stuffed with trump appointees.

I could list a lot more reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, but you get the idea.

Most politician, left and right, support Israel in some capacity, but Kamala is better for Palestinians than Trump. It truly is the lesser of two evils.

  24. Everyone with a shred of humanity is pro-Palestine, even most Israelis don’t support Netanyahu and how he’s handled the war.

The question is, are you pro-Hamas? The war that Hamas/Iran started is between Israel and Hamas, not Israel and Palestine.

  25. Harris is the only candidate who has acknowledged that Palestinians are suffering. Our choice is between someone who might actually pressure Israel to ease up and someone who would encourage Israel to raze Gaza.

  26. Potential_Kangaroo69 on

Hard to believe we cant come together under the anti-Hamas platform.

The world is safer for Israelis and Palestinians without them.
