Today marks the anniversary of national hero Movses Silikyan, of Udi origin, a general who served in the First Republic of Armenia and played a fundamental role in the Armenian victory at the Battle of Sardarabad.

  1. He is in my personal opinion, one of the best generals and leaders Armenia ever had. He played as much of a role as Nzhdeh and Andranik in saving Armenia from being completely destroyed by the Ottomans and Turkey and his life story is also an interesting case study on how relations with Armenians and the Udis were close before the Nagorno-Karabakh war and the weaponization of Caucasia Albania. It is a shame he was executed in the Great Purge. Armenia lost so many great leaders during the communist regime.
