China's agriculture minister dismissed amid suspected wrongdoing China’s legislature says Agriculture Minister Tang Renjian has been removed from his post and replaced by Han Jun.

The Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress made the announcement on Friday.

No reasons were given for the decision, but the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in May that Tang was being investigated for suspected breaches of discipline and violation of law.

He is the third Cabinet member to be fired since President Xi Jinping entered his third term as Communist Party leader in 2022.

The others are Qin Gang, who served as foreign minister, and Li Shangfu, who served as defense minister.

Li is accused of taking a large amount of bribes. He was dismissed last October, and expelled from the party in June.

On Friday, the legislature announced he has also been disqualified from the National People’s Congress.
