As fun as I’m sure this comment section will become, already some deletions that have ignorance vs overly zealous vibes, I’m going to try and stay some where near the topic for my 2 pence.
Would it be nice if biological sex had zero relevance in society? Yes this isn’t the case and until then will remain a protected characteristic.Â
Are the majority of people who openly identify as gender critical advocates hateful people who should not be with vulnerable people? Yes, I’m not 100% convinced the person was someone who goes out of their way as an advocate and beliefs alone are protected. If they are that type of person then they will do real fuck up things if not leave them alone.
Is this sort of place the best to break down the social failings and strive for equality? No, really no. I get why she thought it was a good place to try and impact positively given the number of SAs on trans women, trouble is it’s still a tiny percentage of women SA cases and we can only make progress if it doesn’t harm others, which unfortunately due to the number of women who won’t see trans women as women in this setting the accommodation has to be made this way currently.
If we really want to make these places a safe space for as mean as possible education about trans issues for all teenagers should be the target, break down the barriers there have been forming and block terfs and foreign religous organisations from lobbying the government directly.
