Remnants of Typhoon Yagi ravage Myanmar, Thailand Flooding and landslides caused by the remnants of Typhoon Yagi have killed at least 19 people in Myanmar. Rescuers are scrambling to reach those left stranded in disaster-hit areas.

Local media say over 50,000 people including in the capital Naypyitaw are taking shelter as homes are inundated.

Evacuation camps have been washed away in the border area with Thailand. Bridges and roads have collapsed, isolating some areas.

Meanwhile in northern Thailand, at least 10 people have been killed in flash floods and landslides caused by the storm. Rescuers are racing to evacuate stranded residents.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited hard-hit areas near the Thai-Myanmar border on Friday to assess the damage.

Authorities are warning of more rains in the coming weeks. They’re calling for people to stay on alert for mudslides and flooding.

Typhoon Yagi has ravaged countries across Southeast Asia and China. It has resulted in over 200 deaths in Vietnam. The storm has become a tropical depression, but it continues to have a wide impact.
