  1. I’m sure everyone has learnt the lesson that crime doesn’t pay and they will all be good boys now.

  2. As if anyone would be depressed to be released early? I’d say its a bizarre title, but it’s clear what the authors are going for lol. Just a bit stupid.

They shouldn’t be released entirely, their sentences should be commuted to lengthy community service. There’s a ton of fly-tipping that needs clearing up to start with. If they reoffend, their sentences need to doubled, with no chance of parole.

Is there an end to this problem?

First they ran out of prison space, now they’re worried about having enough probationary officers to monitor.

At least the Tories found a better way to prevent burglaries – leave an increasing number of people in poverty and the burgers, new and old, won’t have things to burgle

Reoffending rate in the UK is generally around 25% within the first year of release. It’ll be interesting to see if this increases or decreases with the early release prisoners.

In past decade we have seen seven prisons closed and not replaced. What do you think would happen? Either you build more prisons or you stop sending people to prison.

When will data be available to see if there is a noticeable up tick in crime and how many of these people ended up reoffending?

People are concerned about prisoners being released, but no one seems concerned about us being able to send worse criminals to prison..

The system is fucking broken they have to do something.

  9. Kind of a weird title if you think about it. What are they meant to be depressed about leaving prison early? Im not talking about the actual story itself im just saying that’s a bad headline.

  10. I think we need to fundamentally rethink crime, punishment, justice and reform in this country. It’s not sustainable and it isn’t working.

  11. What’s actually the plan when these ‘ex’-criminals commit crime again (because some inevitably will within weeks/months)

Do we release a different prisoner to make space?

Are we going to have rolling prisoners like rolling subs?

  12. I’ve always thought for career criminals and people with no remorse – complete barinwashing is needed. Like, physical and psychological methods, no matter how harsh, to literally brainwash these kinds of scuma and drain on society. Would many people oppose it?

  13. whoopee, I’m glad these thieves will be out stealing my car and burgling my home, it will all be worth it to put away those nasty people who say naughty things on the internet!!!!

  14. I’m sure the victims feel awfully bad that the crimes committed against them and the Justice they deserve is a severe inconvenience to this govt.

How dare you expect fair punishment for the crimes committed upon you. Must have felt good to see the criminals celebrating yesterday by spraying champagne around like that.
