Başkent University International Finance and Banking Department Head Prof. Dr. Şenol Babuşcu stated that the Ministry of Treasury and Finance is working on a new regulation, and that according to this, the use of a debit or credit card will be mandatory for payments of 7 thousand TL and above.

Before this draft, if both parties were taxpayers, purchases over 7000 TL had to be made with a bank or credit card. If this draft is published and becomes a notification, those who are not taxpayers will also be able to use a bank or credit card for purchases over 7000 TL, otherwise they will also be subject to special irregularity fines."
