  1. Honestly, how much of that is ireland actually getting, and will the government do anything worthwhile with it?

  2. I don’t like being used a a pawn by the EU so other member states get their slice of the pie. They didn’t spend 8 years at this to help us.

Who would own the interest that €13bn in escrow has accumulated over the years? That must be a tidy penny.

  4. the story suggests the case could rumble on for longer – by the time it eventually completes €13b will be chump change. It already doesn’t look like the unfathomably large figure it did 8 years ago due to our inflated budget surpluses. HSE would probably spend it in 6 months with no noticeable benefits.

Please please please sink this into infrastructure and state pension fund.

Or give everyone a year off from paying income tax.

  6. We are rich might be able to afford the plans for another children’s hospital or maybe two new bike sheds

  7. BAM are rubbing their hands now! Oh sorry guys the new estimated cost of that children’s hospital, yeah you know that one you should have built on a green field site which would have saved millions, yep that one. We think 5 billion should be enough now…. wait maybe not

  8. Possible the best result for Apple after the initial review.

The the lower court judgment was set aside they can reapeal it in the lower court with the knowledge that the lower court judgment has some merit

Now if they were smart…but we all know they’re not, they use it to build some fecking housing!

Does the Irish government have any spending plans for this or will it form part of the rainy day fund that corporation tax revenue is ring fenced for?

The EU giveth and the EU taketh away.

We’ve made our bed, can’t play both sides of the fence. Bye Apple 👋

That’s €2166 each for a population of 6 million. I’m going to spend mine on 300 cups of coffee.

  13. I literally had an argument with my dad about how big businesses are playing the system to dodge taxes, who’s wrong now?

If we don’t get to keep the whole amount then it’s a disgrace, it’s our tax laws that have earned us this money nobody else

That 13b will pay for the metro and help the 14 thousand homeless of the streets and get them a nice flat each.

  16. Tarmac every garden in nation. If every citizen has a patch of land with beautiful fresh clean tarmac then the possibilities are endless. The nation might finally realise its most essential dreams.
