2028 WorldSkills competition to be held in Japan Japan’s labor ministry says the country will host an international vocational skills competition in 2028. It will be the fourth time that the WorldSkills competition will be held in Japan and the first in 21 years.

Young engineers gather from around the world every two years for the event to compete in categories such as construction and machine processing.

Japan was bidding for the event to be held in November 2028 with the aim of promoting the country’s high technological capabilities.

At a WorldSkills general assembly held in France on Monday, representatives from member countries voted for Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, as the host for the 2028 competition.

It was held in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan, in 2007.

The labor ministry plans to hold the event at an exhibition center and other venues in Aichi’s Tokoname City. It says about 1,700 people from more than 65 countries and regions are expected to take part.

Parliamentary vice minister of labor Miura Yasushi said that he hopes the event will give young people an opportunity to experience excellent skills firsthand. He said that he wants to drum up people’s interest in the event.
