I truly don’t understand how right-wingers process the cognitive dissonance, they try to claim all this music and popular culture as their own and as speaking for them, but nearly to an artist, the artists who make it all despise their politics. What the fuck do you think the White Stripes have been saying all this time?

Jack Black and Jack White are like… black and white.

> On Monday, White and Meg White, the duo behind The White Stripes, sued Trump, his campaign, and one of his top campaign officials for using "Seven Nation Army" in a short video posted on X and other social media platforms.
> "As a self-professed sophisticated and successful businessman with decades-long experience in the entertainment industry, Defendant Trump and the other Defendants, his agents, knew or should have known that the use of the 7NA Works in the Infringing Trump Videos was unauthorized, and violated Plaintiffs' rights under the Copyright Act," the complaint reads.
> Trump's lawyers are currently fighting a suit over Eddy Grant's 1983 hit "Electric Avenue." Last week, a federal judge ordered Trump's campaign to stop playing "Hold On, I'm Coming" as Issac Hayes' estate pursues legal action over what it claims was improper use of the song Hayes cowrote.
It would be great if Denis Leary let them use his “Asshole” song, lol — it would be the most appropriate for them.

They poked the wrong artist this time. Jack White has the resources, principles, and tbh pure spite to make sure they don’t slide on this one. I say GOOD.

BRB, gonna listen to a hour of White Stripes songs to help fund the lawsuit.
(yes, I know Jack White can EASILY afford this lawsuit. But every little helps.)

I’m glad a lot of the artists are suing. But also the silence from artists like Taylor Swift is deafening

Trump is such an idiot. Ted Nugent is a total Trumper and “Stranglehold” is an amazing song. Instead they use songs by people that will sue him. What a total moron.

I wonder if they used ChatGPT to create songs for them if Open AI would sue them also.

The first half dozen times artists told him to stop using their work, it looked like sloppiness or laziness. Y’know, the Trump brand. Now I wonder if it’s an attempt to find an artist who DOESN’T hate him. Besides those living legends Ted Nugent & Kid Rock, I guess.

That’s how it’s done, if you don’t support the fascist’s mission, you tell him to stop using your stuff.

At this rate, every musician needs to sign a list before he uses their songs. He’s just gonna keep using a song, getting sued, then switching to a new song to start the process again

I’m halfway wondering if Trump just uses the songs without permission with the intention of dealing with the fallout later.
He knows that all these bands won’t let him use their songs, so why bother trying to pay to license them. He can roll the dice and if they will sue him, he just pays the fine (or doesn’t pay). Hell it might even be cheaper than paying for the rights to begin with. And all said and done, his followers are none the wiser.

To be clear, that orange jackass doesn’t know or has any input on music selection. It is his equally jackass-like staff that make those decisions.
