Is the press ‘sanewashing’ Trump?

  1. “Too often, major outlets clean up Trump’s language—especially in shorter formats, like headlines and ledes—to the point where it barely resembles what he actually said. And, if the press hasn’t ignored Trump’s fitness, Sargent made a compelling case, in his column, that it hasn’t subjected his age and condition to anything like the level of focused scrutiny that was applied to President Biden on such grounds.”

“As I wrote after Biden’s disastrous debate performance in June, Trump was incoherent that night, too, but seemed to get away with it because he showed more energy.”

Unquestionably. Trump is their golden goose. Being able to report on the end of the Republic and rise of Trump’s Fourth Reich has them giddy with anticipation of the profits.

  3. They want the clashing. The battle between the two candidates makes for great ratings and profit. If they go to far on Trump than the clash will look less of a battle and more of an automatic win for Kamala. Sad thing is that they are making him look better than he is. This is very dangerous.

  4. The press is complicit. The DOJ is complicit. The court system is complicit.

If we don’t do something really fucking soon, we will ALL be forced to be complicit.

    I WILL NOT be complicit!!

  5. If Biden answered about child care the way Trump did. Everyone would be calling for him to be removed immediately.

Yes. They only care about their ratings. They’d feed us all to wolves in Maddison Square Garden for the views.

  7. Yup, and not just trump. They’re validating every one of his jackaloons as if it’s ‘both sides’ politics as usual.

The elephant in the room is the stupidity of an average Trump supporter. It’s quite shocking that there are 10’s of millions of Americans too dumb to spot the world’s most obvious con-man! I mean, how many believe the election was stolen? It’s 10’s of millions of Republicans! I don’t blame mainstream media for that, I blame right wing media and the quality of public education!

  9. Yes, they are. Isn’t it obvious?

The New York Times turned this:

    >Well, I will do that and we’re sitting down, you know, I was, uh, somebody, we had Sen. Marco Rubio and my daughter Ivanka were so, uh, impactful on that issue, it’s a very important issue.

    >But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I’m talking about that because childcare is childcare is couldn’t, you know, is something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it. But when you talk about those numbers compared to the kind of numbers that I’m talking about by taxing foreign nations at levels that they’re not used to, but they’ll get used to it very quickly – and it’s not going to stop them from doing business with us but they’ll have a very substantial tax when they send product into our country.

    >Those numbers are so much bigger than any numbers that we’re talking about, including child care. That – it’s going to take care – we’re going to have – I – I look forward to having no deficits within a fairly short period of time, coupled with the reductions that I told you about on waste and fraud and all of the other things that are going on in our country.

    >Because I have to say with child care – I want to stay with child care – but those numbers are small relative to the kind of economic numbers that I’m talking about, including growth, but growth also headed up by what the plan is that I just – that I just told you about.

    >We’re going to be taking in trillions of dollars. And as much as child care is talked about as being expensive, it’s, relatively speaking, not very expensive compared to the kind of numbers we’ll be taking in.

    >We’re going to make this into an incredible country that can afford to take care of its people, and then we’ll worry about the rest of the world. Let’s help other people, but we’re going to take care of our country first. This is about America first, it’s about Make America Great Again. We have to do it because right now we’re a failing nation. So we’ll take care of it. Thank you. Very good question.

    into this:

    >[Trump] said he would prioritize legislation on the issue but offered no specifics and insisted that his other economic policies, including tariffs, would ‘take care’ of child care.

Every time they report on Trump like he’s a serious person, every time they tiptoe around the word “lie” when describing his claims, every time they conveniently forget that he tried to *steal the country* on and before Jan. 6, another piece of the republic dies.

  12. How does the press not know their head is on a block if he wins? Dictators always take out political rivals first and journalists second

  13. bobby-blobfish on

In a normal world, he would be in either:
    1. jail
    2. mental asylum
    3. homeless and broke.

  14. It seems like many in the new media are trying to teeter Trump and Harris into this political LaGrange point. A place where they are neck-and-neck in the polls and one is no better than the other. The reasons are obvious.

  15. Yes.

Biden has a bad debate? 24 hour news coverage for weeks on every single platform about how he’s mentally declining and unable to do the job and unfit to be President.

Trump, literally daily and routinely, is spouting the most incomprehensible rambling drivel that it makes Biden look down right normal and competent, but this is almost never mentioned by anyone.

Go fuck yourself media. Absolutely go and FUCK yourself.

  16. che-che-chester on

Trump has been saying crazy shit for so long that it is somewhat normal now. Who could have possibly predicted we would be where we are now?

The NC GOP candidate for governor publicly said “some people need killing” and we all just shrugged. He’s most likely going to lose pretty badly because he is a monumentally bad candidate, but that comment alone should have ended his campaign.

For the past 8+ years, Trump has had a monthly scandal that would have ended any previous candidate’s campaign. The result? He is tied for first place in polls. And most of the crazy shit he does and says only solidifies his support within his base.

But to be fair, Harris delayed doing an interview, so “both sides” have serious issues that should concern voters. Failed businessman Trump was clearly qualified to be POTUS in 2016, but a former DA of one of the largest cities, AG of the largest states, Senator of one of the largest states and current VP obviously is too “dumb” and inexperienced to be POTUS. You can’t make this shit up.

  17. I’ve been trying to figure out what’s wrong with the press and journalism and “sane washing” is a pretty good take on it.

They seem to validate even his most backward bs

  18. Expert-Fig-5590 on

So so much. I hope that they are trying to make it seem like a super close race to gin up ratings. When the election happens it will be an enormous win for Harris. Like I said I hope.

  19. What? Is the Russian owned and controlled press in America sanewashing Trump? There is no way that could be the case.
