Zelenskyy: More support needed for front amid Russian advances As the Russian defense ministry announced the seizure of another village in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stressed the importance of providing more support for troops on the frontlines to hold back Russian forces.

Russia’s defense ministry announced on Sunday that its troops seized a village near Pokrovsk, a key strategic city in the eastern region of Donetsk.

The news came after an announcement the previous day of the capture of another village in the area.

In a video address on Sunday Zelenskyy stressed the need for “more capabilities for our warriors on the frontlines,” citing areas such as Pokrovsk with “the highest concentration of Russian forces.”

The president also said he had explained some of the details of “the victory plan for Ukraine” to a bipartisan delegation of the US Congress he met in Italy on Friday.

He added, “we will present all the steps” to US President Joe Biden, as well as former president and current Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.
