  1. “It’s consequences, isn’t it? When politicians have a great idea, they don’t live with the consequences so they don’t care. By the time it all kicks in they are dead or in the House of Lords.“ Spot on, Mark, just surprised the article didn’t reveal he voted for brexit like they often seem to

  2. “Owner of Ormiston Wire in London urges Keir Starmer not to forget small manufacturers in his dealings with EU”

lol, some people still haven’t figured out that cherry picking cakeism doesn’t work 8 years later. The EU got the deal they wanted.

Starmer knows better than anyone, that little to nothing will come out of his dealings with the EU. It’s all for domestic consumption so he can tell the thickos who still support Brexit (who are, in all fairness, a fast dwindling minority) that we tried.

The next step will be commissioning studies to show the extensive damage Brexit has dealt to our growth, tax take, inflation, etc.

The obvious conclusion will be that we need to apply to rejoin the Single Market and Customs Union, as it’s not incompatible with Brexit. Farage himself was saying wouldn’t it be nice to be like Norway back in 2016. And many Brexiters were saying it would be insane to leave the Single Market.

And on top of that EU freedom of movement will cut immigration figures in half! As the new migrants, mostly from India and Nigeria, sure bring a whole lot of family and dependants with them (it’s been 1 worker Visa to 1 family/dependant since Brexit). And it will give us the right to study / work / retire in 27 European countries.

Funny they don’t mention what he voted for.. We all know he loved Farage! Now deal with it.

I live in the Netherlands and I can’t stop laughing. I don’t even live in the UK and I knew everything would get more expensive for u. Also the fact u now “control” immigration is so funny I’m peeling my pants…

You made your bed, now sleep in it!
Ps. No, Europe will NOT give you special trading rights.

  4. Did he vote Brexit? If not, he has my sympathies.

However If he did he only has himself to blame and I hope his business crumbles to dust

I fail to see what KS is hoping to achieve other than PR back home.

Europe have their own priorities to deal with. And renegotiating with an ex-member state, suffering from self-inflict3d wounds and who have yet to honour their initial agreements, isn’t very high on their priority list.

  6. Nowhere in the article does it say he voted for Brexit so why are some so keen to tar him with that brush? The article is Brexit in a nutshell. A total screw up just to try and resolve internal Tory arguments. They are the real villains.

  7. When you put a self serving populist in charge to make the final decision on brexit it’s inevitable someone is going to get seriously fucked over

  8. Wonder If corporation tax increasing from 19% to 25% had anything to do with it?

Wonder if energy prices & or inflation had anything to do with it?

Wonder if cheap Chinese imports have anything to do with it?

It’s been lots of economic issues because of the pandemic doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s Brexit! The UK import more from Europe than it’s has ever done before, city of London has gone from 2nd to 1st in terms of global financial capital, UK has small GDP growth, but we’re not in recession like Germany!

  9. So why, if we see apparent popular support to rejoin, is there not a single major party pushing to rejoin the EU?

Ppl r short sighted and blaming brexit for being poor or having low income. But they need to understand how brexit has made ur border secure comparatively. No more free movement of Europeans has limited extreme criminal activities, reduction in supply and consumption of poor quality foods , comparatively reduction in misuse of tax and benefits by all, etc
Well economy will take time to heal ,but there hs been far Nd wide reduction in numbers of benefits grabbers, which I applaud to brexit
