Hi
I was going to apply for Polish citizenship in the future (my mother is Polish) but my mother passed away recently. I went to look at the gov.pl website and all criteria mention residency in Poland. Is this correct? I thought that I only needed the ancestry documents and a Polish language certificate (which I am learning but it will take me a while to get to the B2 level).
Getting Polish citizenship is not because I necessarily want to live in Poland, it is just that I want to celebrate that connection with my motherland. I know my mum won’t return but at least I will have some kind of deeper link with Poland. As an EU citizen I also don’t need it in practical terms, but in symbolic terms, getting the white eagle would mean a lot to me.
