Trump reveals plan for spending audit commission led by Elon Musk Former US President Donald Trump says he will create a body to review federal government spending if he wins the presidential election in November. He says entrepreneur Elon Musk has agreed to head the task force.

Trump discussed the idea of setting up a “government efficiency commission” during a speech in New York on Thursday.

He said the commission would conduct “a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government,” and make “recommendations for drastic reforms.”

Trump said the commission would “develop an action plan to totally eliminate fraud and improper payments within six months,” and that it would save “trillions of dollars.”

Musk took to his social media platform X ahead of Trump’s speech. He wrote that the commission “would unlock tremendous prosperity for America.” He had proposed establishing the commission during his conversation with Trump last month.

Musk gave his endorsement to Trump after the assassination attempt in July. Musk has since repeatedly posted comments supporting Trump.
