What will Ireland do with 63,000 tonnes of used tyres annually?

  1. Still no hazardous waste landfill in the country so probably export them to Germany for disposal. Northern Ireland has one.

  2. They used to chop them up for crumb rubber. Bord na mona took over the factory that did this a few years ago and I’m not sure if they still do this.

    Aren’t tyres one of the things very easily recycled and repurposed etc? I’ve seen many videos of them being ground down, melted and then reused for more tyres

  5. You can build a house from tyres. Concrete poured inside, lime wash outside. It’s basically Lego.

  6. Build an earthship village. 1970s house design that uses tyres on one wall as insulation. Can’t see that happening here though!
