  1. This is getting ridiculous. I am all for the 2nd amendment but we are not militias fighting a civil war.

There’s no reason for us to have high powered weapons or assault rifles or military grade arms just to prove ourselves as red blooded Muricans.

It’s time for the younger generation to step up and speak with their votes for better future.

  2. This is part of the reason I hate when Democrats try to rehab the Republican image and say the issues are only with Trump. Republicans have been voting against gun reform for decades. I’d be shocked if Kizinger and Cheney haven’t voted against gun reform while elected.

  3. I’m from Texas, I own a gun but guess what we need gun reform. There is no need to have children getting killed in school because you make it your whole identity to have weapons that should only be used in war time.

Unfortunately it has to be this way because republicans value guns over anything & everything else.

  5. “Thoughts and Prayers” season has officially begun.

    Will Rogers(early 20th century US entertainer/humorist):

    * When the Judgment Day comes civilization will have an alibi, “I never took a human life, I only sold the fellow the gun to take it with.”

  6. Cue Republicans posting family photos where everyone is holding personalized weapons celebrating the 2nd amendment and sending thoughts and prayers.

  7. Kamala Harris really touched on the important points of this issue appropriately. I was impressed by how well she handled this.

Unlike Sarah Huckabee, who was absolutely disgusting *on the day of the Uvalde shooting* turning it into a [campaign stunt](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/sarah-sanders-abortion-texas-shooting-trump-b2086732.html) about abortion back when she was running for governor of Arkansas.

    What a stark contrast.

Sarah Huckabee is a lying pile of pigshit.

  8. It’s weird that when she went “off script” she didn’t just spout insane nonsensical lies for 50 minutes. I just assumed everybody did that.

  9. Die hard 2nd Amendment fans make no sense to me. Totally fine with gun ownership was long as they’re properly vetted and trained, but nobody needs to own an assault rifle. I also don’t want to hear that we need them in case the government decides to turn on the citizens. Every person in America could have an assault rifle and the military could still wipe us all out without sending a single soldier. Assault rifles aren’t necessary for defending ourselves, they’re weapons of war that have no place in a civilian’s hands.

  10. Everything Republicans use to defect the blame away from our gun policy, such as mental health issues or violent video games, all exist in other countries that don’t have a recurring problem with school shootings. The only outlier between the US and the rest of the developed world is the 2nd Amendment.

It should be federal law that guns must be secured from kids.

    But…

I know there are complications and there would be horrible bias in enforcement of these laws.

  12. A presidential candidate got shot at and is behind bullet proof glass now and there is still no focus on gun arm! Like, I feel like a crazy person at how some people can’t see the dissonance

  13. I don’t understand why these backward ass right wingers value their “inanimate objects” over their kids’ lives. So much that they refuse to give them up because “criminals with guns don’t care about laws.” Out here screeching to arm the teachers, completely ignoring the fact a teacher could have a mental breakdown. Or a teen could steal a teachers gun.

Why they think more guns is the solution to the problem of guns will never make sense.

  14. “… One of the things that I asked every time that I went to an auditorium … raise your hand if at any point from kindergarten to 12th grade you had to go through an active shooter training.”

She added, “Every hand went up.”

She was talking about gen Z. Fire drills were more like an excuse to go stand outside for a minute and get some sunshine and fresh air. Earthquake drills were pretty scary, but I bet active shooter training must be terrifying.

This is not normal, and frankly too awful to just be called weird.

  15. Unless something drastic is done at some point with regards to the gun issue in the US, then it DOES have to be this way!!

Vote blue down the ballot. We need congress and the president to improve on gun legislation.

  17. Nothing will change so long as the 2nd amendment remains on the books. It needs to go.

But, somehow Americans go crazy when guns are mentioned and even otherwise-progressive-minded people get the brainworms bad when guns and the 2A are mentioned. So I know it is not going to happen anytime soon or even far.

I just wonder how many more people are going to needlessly die before then. (I’m taking the over on a million)

Your kids lives are worth less than a check to a politician from a gun lobbyist. Hell republicans won’t even feed kids let alone protect them from being shot to death. That party screaming about being pro life does not give a single fuck that our kids are being slaughtered by the thousands every year.

  19. When my daughter started kindergarten, on the first day, the school hosted a “boo hoo breakfast” for parents after their first drop-off. Emotional parents met the principal who told us about the school, about kindergarten, and that our children would be going through active shooter drills in an “age appropriate” way. If we weren’t already crying after our first school drop off, we certainly were after learning that.

I don’t know anything about anything, but it seems to me that “well regulated” has been ignored.
