Oh. Does it matter who’s the leader? They won’t last 5 years in charge of them with all the infighting.

Yeah, she never had a shot at making into the top 4. There’s no way she can defend her record as Home Secretary when her policies directly bolstered the growth of Reform. One can easily attribute her policies to Tories losing some 80 or so seats.

As much as I despise the tories, there needs to be a decent opposition and a decent alternative, if for nothing more than a check on government at committee level.
I hope it’s Tugenhat but I’m guessing it’ll be Bad Enoch (based autocorrect) and then probably someone equally feckless when she’s booted before the next election.

Even Conservatives don’t seem interested in the Conservative leadership battle.

Imagine coming last when that’s the line up, fek me.

Good, she can spend more time figuring out how to say high-figure numbers.

I’d say she’s Priti unlikely to ever become leader now.

They need to weed out the culture war bullshitters if the want to revive the party. People in the UK and US have had enough of that shit.

It would be good to get someone who is a leader, who can take the party forwards and be effective opposition, because at the end of the day the country needs effective opposition
The problem is most of them are radicalised by online discourse , and think that that is a reflection of the real world
At the end of the day voters just want competent people who are going to make people feel better off, run the departments of state well enough so that people feel there is an improvement in health, education, policing etc, and help some of the people who are less well off and robustly defend the country’s interests
The Tories likely won’t win the next election, but they need someone who will give them a great chance of winning the one after. Although we said the same about labour not winning this current election, but needing a platform to go on and win the next one and yet the Tories were so incompetent that labour won easily

As Jenrick is top, time to post this as a reminder or who he is:
Guy overrode his civil service, to help his friend a property developer get out of £45million in tax owed to the treasury, in return for a £15k donation.
So the guy is a corrupt prick, and also surprisingly cheap.
The fact this guy still has a political career at all shows how far we have fallen as a nation.

There needs to be an opposition as Labour are running wild doing whatever they want without protest.

It’s just mind boggling how we’ve gone from John Major to the likes of Patel, Badenoch, Braverman.
Where’s the British equivalents of Mitt Romney?
NiceFryingPan on
So, most Tory members felt that Patel is too toxic for the general voting public. Perhaps a full rundown and summarising of the remaining contenders needs to be completed. In short, they should all be regarded as the bottom of the barrel when it comes to integrity, honesty and a million miles from approaching any level of competence.
Remember, these are the arse-holes that, over the past five years, were involved in creating so much damage to the country, that it may take a generation to fix most things that they intentionally fucked up.

Wow, i haven’t really followed that contest (i’m not in the UK) but what a shit show of a line up. I guess only Tugendhat (and Cleverly to a certain extent) are ‘decent’ choices. Whatever happenned to Cruella, why is she not in the contest? Waiting until this new leader inevitably get booted out in a couple of years to take over for the next election?

I fucking called that Bobby J would come out on top of this contest as soon as the six contenders were announced. Of the three white male contenders he’s the only one that is well known.

Good. She’s a snake and got caught plotting with foreign powers. Not what you want in a leader of the opposition.
