His sentence should be as harsh as if he killed someone. Because in another scenario where he does kill someone, the actions and intentions of the driver are exactly the same. It is pure luck whether that is the outcome or not.

This is so common and people are so blatant. I was riding my motorbike down the M5 yesterday and there were multiple people on the M5 doing 70+MPH and were just using their phones. Looking down, one even had his phone at window level texting. It’s frightening.

Boils my piss so much when I see lorry drivers using their phones. But for the people broke down, PLEASE wait away and in front of your car. Otherwise as you can see in this video if you are behind, if your car gets hit, either your car or the vehicle that crashed into it can then go flying into you and game over

We need to start telling people to stand well in front of their vehicles when broken down. They can see what’s approaching and are much much safer than these poor unfortunates were.
Lorry driver is a complete selfish idiot for doing this. He’s trying hard not to look at the camera after he comes to a stop. He’s knows he’s in the shit.

Easily done and he was unlucky, if the car could have limped onto the verge 30 feet further it wouldn’t have happened. He was only switched off for 3 seconds tops, I’ve seen much much worse. Not excusing the phone but if it was connected to the stereo and he was flicking the stereo touchscreen, would it have been any different?
