State of Grace (1990). Starring Sean Penn and Gary Oldman. Entertaining film about the Irish mob in NYC, loosely based on the Westies. It had the misfortune of being released the same week as Goodfellas and so was overshadowed.

That is one of my top 5 gangster movies, Oldman really chewed the scenery on it,”The last guinea who walked around up here was Columbus, and he only lasted a week”.
Can’t believe I never heard of this considering the great cast.
Loved this when I was a teenager. Must see if it holds up.
The guy who directed it did loads of work with U2 as well, oddly.
Oldman and Ed Harris are great in this, but does have the “obviously made by an 80s music video director” vibe throughout.

A great gangster film . A good shoot out at the end and probably the best shoot out that never happened half way through
Also had the misfortune of being absolute horse crap. But yes you blame Goodfellas lol
The hundred yard dash scene was great
