Preparations for polio vaccination underway in Gaza as Israeli attacks continue Israeli forces continued their attacks in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, even as UN officials and other workers were making preparations to begin a polio vaccination campaign in the enclave.

The World Health Organization said Israel and Hamas have agreed to a series of zonal pauses in fighting starting on Sunday.

The WHO said the vaccination campaign will be delivered in a phased approach over at least three days in each round, starting with central Gaza and proceeding south and then north.

Health care workers at medical centers and mobile units are aiming to reach more than 150,000 children under the age of 10 in central Gaza.

Meanwhile, Palestinian media reported that 17 people were killed in Israeli attacks in Nuseirat, central Gaza, on Saturday.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday urged both Israel and Hamas to stick to the pauses in fighting.
