Major League Baseball star Ohtani Shohei posted a homer and a stolen base on Friday, becoming the first MLB player to record 43 home runs and 43 stolen bases in a single season.
Ohtani’s Los Angeles Dodgers faced the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
In the first inning, Ohtani connected with the first pitch to hit a double to right.
He marked his 43rd stolen base of the season in the second inning.
He walked to first base after getting hit by a pitch near his right elbow, which he had an operation on last September. He then stole second base.
At his fifth at-bat in the eighth inning, Ohtani hit a solo home run to left-center, his 43rd homer this season.
Ohtani has widened his home run lead in the National League over the runner-up to six.
With his current pace, expectations are running high that he will achieve 50 home runs and 50 steals in a single season.
