They aren’t already? I feel like these should be recorded. Only problem is if the police should be the one doing it. But I can’t think of a better alternative

Cool, it’s not like they’ve got much else to do. It’s all starting to feel a little oppressive.

  3. I’m not sure the police should get involved with this. The mixing of criminal and civil issues just seems murky to me.

There are no sources in this article, it references another article in the Times (not linked) and old statements on the original introduction of the non-crime hate incidents (oxymoron in itself).

The headline isn’t even accurate. What is this drivel?

  5. Let’s just record everything that citizens do all the time, and store it on a database. You could even attach a social points system to it of some sort.

  6. How about Police investigate actual crimes instead of made up hurt feelings.

If they have the funding and manpower for this, they can investigate other stuff first.

Well that’s a strong source lol. Amazing article of which has content that doesn’t match the title

Why can’t we just have a normal society? Tories , hate everyday people and would use them as pavement or fuel for their cars if they could , then wow we got the answer Labour great! Uh no not exactly , arrest people for words and monitor everyone… Why can’t we just have common sense ?

  9. No “non-criminal hate incident” exists.

A “hate incident” is a crime where a perpetrator targets a victim based on their appearance or perceived social group. The police are not needed if it does not constitute a crime.

  10. Two tier Kier wants closer ties with China – that’s fine but copying the CCP is not…..

  11. wtf is this article even talking about. Record how? Bodycam? A record on their system? Why aren’t we doing both already?

My brother suffered for this in school under old Labour when he asked someone if their mum was “Pakistani”. Kid didn’t have a problem, said “yes” but then told his mum who accused him of calling her a “p*ki”.

No evidence required, no trial process and even the deputy head said that he didn’t think it was “rAcIsM” but the law meant that it had to be filed on my brother’s record at County Hall. Luckily he was under 16 at the time so it didn’t stay there but the school or anyone else did absolutely nothing to protect him.

I never even understood the offence of saying the four letter p word anyway when there is absolutely no problem with saying “Brit”, “Aussie” or any other majority white nationality abbreviation. Besides the point as it wasn’t even what my brother said but just wanted to say this as an example for anyone giving themselves a pat on the back for thinking that this would never affect them or anyone they know.

All of this at a time when county lines and knife crime is out of control.

  13. Haven’t they been doing this for almost 7 years now… and one or two regional forces briefly stopped a few months ago?

I would like to stop hate incidents if possible, but aren’t the police a little busy already?
