Corkonians, prepare yourselves for a McEntee power-walk through your crime hotspots.

> The general election candidate for Cork South Central has proposed that Cork City Council write to Justice Minister Helen McEntee, calling on her to consider introducing measures “to tackle the anti-social behaviour and open drug use that is occurring on a daily basis on the streets of Cork”.
She’ll either claim that Cork is totally safe, or she’ll claim that she doesn’t see it as her responsiblity to determine the priorities of the Gards.
Astonishing lack of ambition, really.

Was guiding a couple of American friends around Cork city centre last year and it was actually fucking mortifying. The lanes that stank of piss, every city centre drunk harassing us as 11am because they heard their accents. Cut the tour short and just drove up to see the sights in the country, too much hassle.

I mean, it also drove me out of Dublin. When you put so many people in a confined space, eventually all the assholes get to know each other and form groups and start being anti social. That’s why we need police – policing the streets, not turning up half an hour after someone calls them.
