It’s not like the police to treat victims with disdain

>“I explained to the police officer what happened, the sexual exploitation, my age and the position of power he was in.
>“And the officer told me I was the one who had broken the law and if I took it any further then I would be prosecuted.
>“I was crying, but he just got up and walked out,” said the victim.
Absolutely horrific. I hope there’s a serious investigation into this and the officer is held accountable. With the rise in sexual assault against women and children and subsequent outrage in the past few years, we need to remember that it affects men and young boys too. They should not have to worry about not being believed, much less being threatened with charges, for reporting assault.
On top of that, this man has *44* other counts of sexually abusing children. I misread the 20 year sentence as being for one count of child sex abuse and thought maybe the courts were starting to take it seriously. That’s not the case at all. You’re going to let him hurt 17 kids and counting and slap him with 20 years? This man should be in prison for life. He’s ruined so many lives.

Technically the police aren’t wrong about the applicable law. Maybe update the relevant legislation if the goal is actually to protect victims.

Wiltshire – of course it is.
Wiltshire Police have been absolutely shocking for years. My partner suffered at the hands of them whilst with a violent ex-partner. They near as makes no difference blamed her and told her to “just leave”
They are (or at least were recently) in special measures mostly due to their handlings (or lack thereof) of sexual crimes and violence against women.

Victims of sexual abuse should be judges, juries, and prosecutors of sexual crimes because obviously, other people don’t give a sh*t.

What about all the female teacher that had “an affair” or “romance” with 13 years old boy? When are we going to take that seriously?

Capital investments in new prisons! There is no rehabbing some people. Why some people can’t accept this is beyond me
