GMO Aozora Net Bank launches block-chain digital asset service A Japanese online bank and two other companies have launched a new digital asset service. The firms expect the service will facilitate payment for digital certificates for carbon emission cuts by businesses.

The service uses block chain technology to issue digital assets known as DCJPY, backed by the bank’s customer deposits. They say the first deal was made on Tuesday.

The three firms say their new block-chain-based digital assets will make such dealings easier and cheaper.

The technology is said to minimize the risk of copying or counterfeiting. And it is increasingly being used for trading ownership of real estate or art works in the digital space.
