For context and for people who didn’t read the article, it doesn’t say much about the person that was rejected only that if you have a BMI of over 35 you can be rejected.
That would put them in the obese or higher category. It’s possible that they were morbidly obese and housebound etc, however that’s just speculation.

That said BMI is a highly flawed/ outdated system. I’m a taller than average gym goer with quite a lot of muscle and not so much fat and id fall into the obese category sometimes.

I’m guessing the concern is that very overweight/ obese people are quite likely to pass on their eating habits to children and therefore harm their wellbeing?

If the bottom line is child well being it seems fairly logical to consider this. I’m sure if a food addiction was replaced with an alcohol or drug addiction they wouldn’t allow the parents to foster children.

The secret here is to only gain the weight after you get the gig!

  4. I see nothing wrong with this. Child welfare is priority. People who are overweight would be likely to pass on bad habits to their children. We literally see it all the time, Fat parents with fat children.

  5. Thetes waaay too many parents who need a slap in the face regarding their kids health and diet

The problem here is that this can be considered offensive. If your doctor, as they probably should to a good percentage of the population, myself included, told you to lose weight to be healthier overall. Are they being an inconsiderate / rude shite?
