It’s either we’re the first couple to be polish +non-EU 😂 … or the people at the town hall have no clue.
My Australian husband arrived in Poland, will stay here longer than 90 days, so I want to register/zameldować him.
I went to urzÄ…d miasta and they have absolutely no clue and don’t want to register him, because they don’t know how.
As far as I’ve done my researchmy polish ID and our marriage certificate should suffice.
The lady states I might need to go to the Wojewoda first, but won’t tell me for what.
Can someone please confirm what needs to be done and in which order?
Husband won’t work for a little while because of health issues, so it’s purely about allowing him to stay in Poland for longer than 90 days.
Also, I was told that when I register my foreign marriage in Poland, they take my original marriage certificate away?
Again, I’m dumbfolded at the polish burocracy, but moreover at the utter incompetence of the state workers here.
Appreciate any advice, as I’m at my wit’s end.
Can't register non-EU spouse. Advice needed

with all due respect she is right and it should be your job to know what to do, not hers.
you need to legalize his stay here as a foreigner. it literally says so in the link you posted, it’s even written in bold letters.

Registering a non-EU spouse in your country of nationality is different because you need to follow national law, so each country decides what you need. When you as Polish citizen move to any other EU country but your own, then your spouse registers on the spot and gets a 5 year residence card. So you just have to read up as much as possible, prepare all of the documents, I think that there are medical check-ups as well, etc.
