Great lecture about Yerevan’s history. Fascinating to learn that Shengavit (~3000 BC) predates founding of Erebuni Fortress (782 BC). Gyumri was first choice for the capital in 1918, but due to Turkish occupation, Yerevan was chosen in its stead. Dutch map depicting Armenia as paradise and travelers citing it as the City of Gardens.
